David Ousted and Nick Rimando are head and shoulders above the competition in the Week 10 Save of the Week voting, with the Vancouver Whitecaps ‘keeper leading the race with over half the vote and the Real Salt Lake shot-stopper the only one within shouting distance with slightly over 30 percent.
Ousted leads the field, with his incredible stop on Philadelphia Union forward Andrew Wenger currently taking home 51.34 percent of the vote. Rimando is the only candidate within 40 percentage points of Ousted, with his late penalty kick save in RSL’s scoreless draw with the LA Galaxy grabbing 31.63 percent of the tally.
Montreal’s Evan Bush is in a distant third, with his diving stop on Portland’s Rodney Wallace registering 10.01 percent of the vote. San Jose’s David Bingham and New York City FC’s Josh Saunders round out the list, with Bingham in fourth with 4.41 percent for his PK stop on Houston’s Giles Barnes and Saunders in fifth for his breakaway denial of New York Red Bulls striker Bradley Wright-Phillips.
There’s not much time for Rimando to pull off a late stunner and pass Ousted, with voting closing late on Thursday night before the winner is announced on Friday. Pick your favorite – vote now!
Voting for Save of the Week runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of MLS Save of the Week – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here.
