Former Seattle Sounder Joevin Jones scored just seven minutes into his 2. Bundesliga debut, but was forced to depart before halftime of SV Darmstadt's desperately-needed 1-0 victory at FC St. Pauli on Sunday.
Starting on the left side of Darmstadt's midfield, Jones hammered in a low finish from distance, a goal that stood as the match-winner for a club locked in a fierce relegation battle.
In the process, the Trinidad & Tobago international made history for the CONCACAF nation.
Later, Jones picked up his first caution of his German career, and then departed the match with an apparent injury seven minutes before halftime.
Jones scored only four goals while playing mainly as a fullback during three MLS seasons, including the last two with Seattle. But he had a breakout season as a provider in 2017, contributing 11 league assists.
