A series of fines and warnings were issued by the MLS Disciplinary Committee in the wake of a 75th-minute incident in the Atlanta United vs. New York Red Bulls match from Week 17. The Red Bulls won the Oct. 10 match 1-0.
Here's the list of infractions that warranted sanctions:
Mass Confrontation
The MLS Disciplinary Committee found Atlanta United and the New York Red Bulls in violation of the mass confrontation policy during the 75th minute. Both clubs have been issued a warning for their first violation.
Instigating & escalating mass confrontation
Due to their roles in the mass confrontation, Atlanta United midfielder Jeff Larentowicz and New York Red Bulls midfielder Marc Rzatkowski each have been issued an undisclosed fine for instigating and escalating a mass confrontation.
Hands to the face, head or neck
In addition, the MLS Disciplinary Committee found Atlanta United defender Franco Escobar in violation of the league’s policy regarding hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent. Escobar has been issued an undisclosed fine for his actions.
