MLS and the Colorado Rapids confirmed that one additional Rapids player and seven more members of the club’s staff received confirmed positive tests for COVID-19.
The news follows the postponement of the Week 14 match between Colorado and Sporting Kansas City on Sept. 27 to allow for additional testing after a Rapids player and three members of the club staff tested positive for COVID-19.
After receiving the club’s initial COVID-19 test results on Sept. 24, the team closed its training complex and has not practiced since then.
In addition to conducting contact tracing, all Rapids players and staff who were confirmed COVID-19 positive cases entered self-isolation. Players and staff who tested negative have also been in self-quarantine.
Every member of the team, including players and technical staff, has followed MLS healthy and safety protocols, including conducting daily COVID-19 tests since Sept. 24.
Further details regarding when the Rapids will resume training and the status of their upcoming Week 15 match on Oct. 3 at the Portland Timbers will be available later this week.
