He was the starting goalkeeper on an LAFC team that set an MLS record for points in a season and captured the Supporters’ Shield a year ago.
But Tyler Miller wasn’t happy. The love of the sport that carried him throughout his life was fading.
“Once that started to hit, playing in games, really, they were fun and good, but when it was all said and done, I felt myself constantly in a cloud where I couldn’t get out of it,” Miller told the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
Now with Minnesota United, Miller opened up about his mental health struggles that stemmed from being called up for the US men’s national team, but not playing a minute of last summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup. He lost his rhythm, and his confidence.
Miller talked about what helped him work through those issues, which can be especially meaningful for many during the coronavirus pandemic.
