Minnesota United will be looking for two wins in a row on Wednesday against the Colorado Rapids (8 pm ET | TV & streaming info), but will have to do so without forward Kei Kamara because of an agreement made with the Rapids when they traded for the player last month.
"Kei's not available for tomorrow because that was an agreement we made with Colorado when we took him that he wouldn't play in the league game," Minnesota head coach Adrian Heath said during Tuesday's pre-match press conference. "But if we were to play them in the playoffs, he would be eligible."
An MLS journeyman, Kamara joined the Rapids ahead of the 2019 MLS season and was there until the trade to Minnesota in September. He scored 17 MLS goals for Colorado in 38 game and was the team's top scorer in 2019. Since joining Minnesota, Kamara has already played six games and scored his first goal earlier this month in a 2-0 win over FC Cincinnati.
Without Kamara, Heath will likely turn to Aaron Schoenfeld up top after he scored the game-winner against FC Cincy on Saturday.
