Minnesota United haven't forgotten.
Little more than a month ago, the LA Galaxy beat Minnesota United 3-2 in a thrilling match at Dignity Health Sports Park. With the Galaxy heading to Allianz Field on Wednesday (8:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US, DAZN in Canada), the Loons have the chance at immediate redemption.
"We owe 'em one," defender Brent Kallman said. "We didn’t play well that game, we really didn’t play well and we know it. We’re going to try and improve on that performance. They present a lot of challenges but at home, with our crowd, I think we have a good chance.”
That game, though, didn't feature Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was absent through injury. He's available for selection on Wednesday and is in sctinillating form with seven goals in just five games.
Loons boss Adrian Heath laid out how he hopes to contain the Swede.
“You try and keep him out of the box as much as you can,” Heath said. “Stop the service into him as best you can, but once it gets into him, you've got to make sure you get bodies around him because he's a big old body and a big old unit and he can turn people, scores all types of goals, whether they be headers, side-footers. You don't score 500 goals in your career if you're not pretty good.”
Minnesota have taken 10 points from their first seven matches, an impressive haul considering the club have played six of those on the road. They return to Allianz Field for the second time on Wednesday, kicking off a stretch of five of six league games at home.
