Speculation that an MLS move could be nearing for Mesut Ozil has ramped up this offseason, with the midfielder now saying that the United States is one of two countries he hopes to play in before he retires.
Ozil revealed as much during a Q&A session with fans on his personal Twitter account, citing the US and Turkey as the two countries where he'd like to compete when his Arsenal career wraps up.
Talk of the German attacker's exit from Arsenal has increased for weeks now as he remains unused by manager Mikel Arteta. Ozil is again linked to D.C. United, who have reportedly already made an offer.
Fenerbache could throw a wrench into Ozil moving to MLS, however, as the Turkish club is also heavily linked to him. In the same Q&A on Monday, Ozil said that he was a fan of Fenerbache when growing up.
Ozil hasn't featured for Arsenal since March, despite being one of the Premier League's highest-paid players. The 32-year-old has been with Arsenal since 2013, establishing himself as an elite playmaker who also has stops at Real Madrid, Werder Bremen and Schalke 04.
