On Men In Blazers, Tyler Adams discusses rise from RBNY ballboy to stardom

Tyler Adams thumbs up

Once a ballboy for the New York Red Bulls, Tyler Adams is living out his dream and he hasn't even turned 20 yet.

The 19-year-old is already a leader for his boyhood club and becoming a regular fixture for the US national team. Adams was a guest of the Men in Blazers podcast and spoke about that dream, his Arsenal fandom, how he can improve, aspirations and more. Check it out here.

"Everything has happened particularly fast, I feel like I was playing USL yesterday," Adams told Roger Bennett, one half of the Men in Blazers. "For me, there's so many bright things that can happen and potentially so much more to come. I think the most important thing is just staying grounded."

Adams, like teammate Bradley Wright-Phillips, is a loyal Arsenal fan and his favorite player was Thierry Henry. When Adams was in the Red Bulls academy, Henry made his move to MLS, and Adams was handing Henry the ball on matchdays at Red Bull Arena.

"You're just in awe that a player of his caliber is playing for your hometown club," Adams said. "Now, every Saturday I get to bug my mom 'We have to go to this game.' Being a ballboy, whether trying to throw him the ball or get as close to him as possible, is something you dreamed of every Saturday night."
