TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The New England Revolution signed defender/midfielder Matt Polster on a transfer from Rangers FC on Wednesday, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate. To acquire Polster’s MLS rights, the Revolution traded $100,000 in 2021 allocation money to Chicago Fire FC, where Polster played from 2015-18.
Polster had previously signed with Rangers in January of 2019. He made 10 total appearances across the Scottish Premiership, Europa League, and Scottish League Cup action, including three starts at right back. Prior to that, he made 82 MLS appearances in four seasons for the Fire.
“We are pleased to have Matt join the Revolution,” sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said in a statement. “Matt is a talented player, very athletic, and technically sound. His experience in MLS and his ability to play in multiple positions makes him a great addition to our roster."
Polster will not be eligible for the MLS is Back Tournament, per the conditions of the revised 2020 MLS transfer windows. The Revs open their tournament in Group C against the Montreal Impact on Thursday evening (8 pm ET | TUDN, Twitter, TSN).
