Luis Suarez's availability for the Copa America Centenario is now in question.
Barcelona officially announced on Monday that Suarez suffered a right hamstring injury a day prior in the club's 2-0 extra-time win over Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final. Suarez sustained the muscle problem in the 55th minute of the match, and was forced out of the game as he was unable to continue.
Suarez, 29, is going to begin his rehabilitating the injury with Barcelona before joining Uruguay on June 1 in the United States. He will continue to nurse and rehab the injury with his national team there.
The star striker enjoyed a remarkable season with the Spanish giants. Suarez scored 40 La Liga goals in 35 matches, claiming the league's 2015-16 Golden Boot while helping Barcelona win the title.
Uruguay were drawn into Group C of the Copa America Centenario, and begin play on June 5 when they face Mexico. Matches against Venezuela and Jamaica follow for Los Charruas on June 9 and 13, respectively.
