D.C. United's first Homegrown Player is back home and is set to make his first appearance since rejoining the club.
Ben Olsen said that Bill Hamid will make his return to D.C.'s lineup on Wednesday against Portland Timbers, a week after returning on a year-and-a-half loan from Danish side FC Midtjylland. Olsen added that David Ousted, who has started 17 of 20 games this season, has been good, but that the club didn't bring back Hamid for the US international to sit on the bench.
Hamid last played for D.C. in September of 2017, a 3-0 loss at Chicago Fire, before heading for Europe. In Denmark, Hamid was unable to become the club's No. 1, making just three appearances.
Steven Goff reported that Steve Clark, who made three starts for United this year, didn't train with D.C. on Tuesday and has been waived.
Hamid holds club records in starts (184), minutes (16,269), wins (66), saves (642) and shutouts (49). In 2014, Hamid was named an MLS All-Star, selected to the MLS Best XI and won MLS Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
