LAFC signed a second goalkeeper on Wednesday, when they announced the acquisition of 24-year-old Honduran international Luis Lopez from Real España.
Lopez joins fellow 24-year-old and former Seattle Sounder Tyler Miller as the two goalkeepers on LAFC’s current roster.
“Luis is a young, athletic goalkeeper who’s eager to grow and learn within MLS,” GM John Thorrington said in a statement. “We’re excited to get him on the field and see what he can do for our club.”
Lopez spent the last five years with Honduran club Real España, where he made 124 career appearances and helped the team to the Apertura 2017 championship.
The 5-foot-11 ‘keeper has 12 career caps with Honduras, started all four of their matches at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup and appeared in two World Cup qualifiers.
“Luis is an athletic goalkeeper who is very good with the ball at his feet,” said LAFC head coach Bob Bradley. “He will bring great experience having played in big matches throughout his career.”
