The LA Galaxy announced Saturday that defender Danilo Acosta underwent successful surgery on his left leg Friday afternoon. Acosta had ACL reconstruction and medial meniscal root repair and is expected to be out for 7-9 months.
Acosta, 22, suffered the injury during the club’s preseason contest last weekend against Toronto FC. He was signed in January by the Galaxy, which had acquired his rights from Orlando City in the End-of-Year Waivers Process last November.
Acosta has made 37 MLS appearances (34 starts) since beginning his career with Real Salt Lake in 2016. Along with recent signing Diedie Traore, Acosta was expected to provide depth for the Galaxy at left back behind projected starter Emiliano Insua.
