TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The LA Galaxy officially announced the signing of left back Danilo Acosta on Wednesday. Acosta was originally selected during the End-of-Year Waivers Process in November.
Acosta signed his first professional contract with Real Salt Lake in 2015 as a Homegrown Player who was a graduate of the Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy. He played in his first year with Real Monarchs, RSL’s USL affiliate, before going on to make 29 appearances in Major League Soccer with RSL from 2017-18. In 2018, he was loaned to Orlando City SC and made eight appearances for the Eastern Conference side.
“Danilo has experience in Major League Soccer and fills a position of need for our team,” said LA Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese in a statement. “He is young and versatile, and we think he will continue to develop with our group. We are pleased to add Danilo to our roster and look forward to him integrating into the squad.”
At the national level, Acosta has made 16 appearances for the United States U-20s. During that span, he won the 2017 CONCACAF U-20s Championship - scoring the game-winning penalty in the final against his home country of Honduras - and represented the United States at the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea.
He joins a suddenly crowded left back depth chart along with new signing Emiliano Insua, Diedie Traore and Jorgen Skjelvik.
