TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan extension
The LA Galaxy's major new signing in 2019 will be back for the 2020 season after the club announced Monday that winger Cristian Pavon's loan deal with Boca Juniors has been exercised and he'll return as a Designated Player in 2020.
Pavon, 23, was signed at the end of the summer transfer window, and the Argentina international scored three goals and eight assists in 11 MLS regular-season appearances, helping the Galaxy return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and win their Round One game over Minnesota United.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic not coming back next season, Pavon will be the biggest name to return and the could be the focal point of LA's attack in 2020. That said, the club is expected to sign a key reinforcement or two to bolster the title hopes under head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
The Galaxy will face Inter Miami CF in the expansion team's first home game for 2020, on March 14 at Ft. Lauderdale Stadium.
