TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension
Jukka Raitala will be with the Montreal Impact through the 2020 season, the club announcing the defender’s contract extension Wednesday morning.
The fullback is currently in his second season with the Impact after arriving via a trade with LAFC in December, 2017.
Raitala had one goal and two assists in 28 regular season games, including 25 starts, in 2018. The 30-year-old showcased his versatility, playing both fullback spots and also center back.
Raitala, who started his MLS career with Columbus Crew SC, has started 45 of the 57 games he’s appeared in over the course of three seasons.
Internationally, Raitala has 43 caps with Finland, making his senior debut on February 4, 2009, in a friendly against Japan. He played four UEFA Nations League games in 2018, after appearing in several World Cup and Euro qualification games throughout his career.
He was not called up for Finland’s Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Italy and Armenia.
