Two players were selected in Stage 2 of the Re-Entry draft on Tuesday.
Former US international Juan Agudelo was selected by Toronto FC after spending six of the past seven years with the New England Revolution. The 27-year-old was originally signed as a Homegrown Player by the New York Red Bulls back in 2010 and went on to score six goals in 33 appearances with the club. He was called up to the US at the end of 2010 and has made a total of 28 appearances in his career. Over his MLS career, Agudelo has 46 goals and 22 assists in 215 appearances.
Saad Abdul-Salaam was the other selection on Tuesday, as the defender saw his rights picked up by FC Cincinnati. He made 18 appearances (11 starts) for the Seattle Sounders in 2019, helping the club win MLS Cup — though he did not make an appearance in the MLS Cup Playoffs. He has made 86 appearances in five MLS seasons and is most comfortable playing at right back while also having the ability to play at center back.
Teams can select players who are out of contract or whose contract options were declined by their last clubs in the Re-Entry draft. Stage 2 gives teams that select players the ability to renegotiate contracts.
