Jonathan dos Santos' game-winning golazo for LA Galaxy sure did look sweet, but that doesn't mean the Mexico international felt great for 90 minutes.
After leading the Galaxy to a 1-0 road win over Orlando City SC on Friday, dos Santos admitted he's battling a hip injury, one that is familiar to him, but not something that will keep him off the field.
“It was a little difficult, but when I start to have pain in my hip and I start to do some movements, my body gets tired faster because I don’t have the complete mobility," dos Santos said after the game. "But, I suffer with that pain and try to do everything I can for the team. From one part, it takes a lot from me. Almost every year, I experience some pain in my hip but like i’ve always said, there’s never an excuse. If you are going to play, you are going to play at 100%."
The Galaxy snapped a four-game losing streak with their win over Orlando. Dos Santos exited the Galaxy's loss to the Columbus Crew on May 8, though only missed one game thereafter.
"Today I found myself good, truthfully, I found myself good," dos Santos said. "All week I felt good as well. The most important thing is that we won, we suffered, but we won.”
As for the goal, well, Zlatan Ibrahimovic might get fewer crosses from the midfielder.
"When I score a goal, it’s not for nothing, I get golazos," dos Santos said. "I have to try it more."
