TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Jeisson Vargas has not traveled to Florida with the Montreal Impact for the club's first 2019 preseason training camp, the club announced on Monday, due to his expected departure on a loan move.
Though the club's announcement did not name a specific destination for the 21-year-old Chilean, and made clear that the deal is not yet complete, reports out of South America have alleged that Vargas is likely headed to Universidad de Chile in his home country.
Vargas is a product of the youth academy at "La U"'s rivals, Universidad Catolica, and made his professional debut there, scoring nine goals in 33 appearances to help the Santiago powers win a league title before moving on to Italian side (and Impact affiliate) Bologna in 2016.
He scored four goals for Montreal in 19 league appearances (10 starts) last season after signing a 3.5-year contract with the Quebec club a year ago.
