FC Cincinnati and Brenner both swiped right.
In a Tinder-inspired video, the Queen City club teased their official Tuesday morning announcement of landing the Young Designated Player from Brazil, resulting in a relationship that they hope launches goals, goals and more goals.
Stirred by the online dating app, FC Cincinnati’s digital team got creative in showing a list of suitors the 21-year-old encountered before his transfer from Sao Paulo FC to MLS. Among the clubs he swiped left on? World-renowned European sides like Ajax, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus.
As FC Cincinnati prepare to open West End Stadium in 2021, the Brenner signing has turned plenty of heads across the league. He featured for Brazil at the 2017 U-17 World Cup and had 21 goals and four assists in 39 appearances across all competitions since Brazilian Championship A Series returned in August 2020.
So will Brenner and FC Cincinnati’s match be a short-term affair or a long-lasting match? They’re hoping for the latter, naturally, and some love at first sight.
The announcement came just before Valentine's Day, too, so maybe there's some devotion in the air as FC Cincinnati look to put their goalscoring woes (bottom of MLS in 2020) in the rearview mirror. At the very least, Brenner makes a strong first impression.
