Inter Miami CF have hired Jason Kreis to coach their USL League One affiliate Fort Lauderdale CF, the club announced Saturday.
Kreis, who is currently the coach of the US Under-23 national team and Inter Miami's Senior Academy Director, will head up Fort Lauderdale's staff for its upcoming debut season, joining assistant coach Martin Paterson, goalkeeper coach Chris Barocas and Developmental Performance manager Mateus Manoel. Director of Player Development Darren Powell will coach the team during games when Kreis is on duty with the U-23s at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Kreis is a familiar name around MLS, starting as a player where he racked up 108 goals in 305 appearances during stints with the Dallas Burn and Real Salt Lake from 1996-2007 and is currently ranked seventh on the league's all-time goal-scoring list.
He then moved to coaching, where he manned the sidelines for RSL from 2007-2013, winning MLS Cup in 2009. Kreis also managed New York City FC during its 2015 expansion season and Orlando City SC from 2016-2018 before taking his post with the US U-23s.
