Christian Pulisic missed out on Chelsea's league visit to Arsenal on Sunday, with reports indicating that the US men's national team star has sustained a soft-tissue injury in the midst of England's busy period of festive fixtures.
Chelsea revealed in their lineup notes that the Pennsylvanian has picked up a hamstring strain, though one journalist claimed that it's in fact a groin issue, putting his availability in doubt for the next several weeks. He played 25 minutes off the bench in the Blues' surprise defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day (Thursday) and his timetable for return is unclear.
"Christian Pulisic felt a hamstring training after the Southampton game and is left out as a precaution," read the club's description. Chelsea visit Brighton on New Year's Day, then host Nottingham Forest in FA Cup action on Jan. 5 before their calendar calms down a bit with league matches vs. Burnley on Jan. 11 and Newcastle on Jan. 18.
CFC entered the weekend in fourth place in the Premier League standings with 32 points and a 10W-8L-2D record. Pulisic has made 15 appearances for his new club thus far, scoring five goals.
