Houston Dynamo forward Alberth Elis and defenders Maynor Figueroa and Alejandro Fuenmayor will count as domestic players in 2020 after receiving their green cards from the United States government, the club announced Wednesday.
Elis, who’s from Honduras, is starting his fourth season with Houston and already has 30 goals and 24 assists through 82 games. Figueroa is also Honduran and is beginning his sixth MLS season after entering the league in 2015 with the Colorado Rapids. Fuenmayor, a 23-year-old Venezuelan, made 30 appearances for the Dynamo across the last two seasons.
The Dynamo now have seven players occupying the seven international slots of their roster: defender Jose Bizama (Chile), defender Victor Cabrera (Argentina), forward Mauro Manotas (Colombia), goalkeeper Marko Maric (Croatia), forward Ronaldo Pena (Venezuela), defender Aljaz Struna (Slovenia) and midfielder Matias Vera (Argentina).
Houston, amid their first season under new head coach Tab Ramos, return to action this Saturday (8:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+, on DAZN in Canada) at Sporting Kansas City.
