TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The Houston Dynamo bolstered their defensive corps on Thursday, signing center back Conor Donovan from their USL affiliate Rio Grande Valley FC.
Donovan, 22, has played every minute of every game for RGVFC through their first 10 games of the USL season, with Los Toros unbeaten in their last six matches dating back to April 25, with four clean sheets in that span.
A former US youth international who played under Dynamo head coach Wilmer Cabrera on the US U-17 squad from 2011-12, Donovan was a member of the 2015 Generation adidas class and was drafted by Orlando City SC – at that point an expansion side – in the second round of that year’s MLS SuperDraft.
He made just one MLS appearance with Orlando, as he tore his ACL just 10 minutes into his debut with the Lions in August 2015. The North Carolina native returned to health the following year and became a regular with OCB, Orlando’s since-shuttered USL side, but saw his contract option declined at the end of 2017.
With the signing of Donovan, the Dynamo now have 30 players under contract for 2018.
