After contributing to all three of Houston Dynamo FC's goals in a 3-0 victory at the LA Galaxy, forward Sebastián Ferreira has been named MLS Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire for Week 13.
The 24-year-old Paraguayan got Houston off to a dream start just 11 minutes into the contest, pouncing on a rebound and setting himself up for a tap-in finish after Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond spilled an initial save.
With Houston still clinging to that one-goal advantage just shy of the hour mark, Ferreira then assisted on each of his team's subsequent insurance goals, first with a feed to Tyler Pasher that set the Canadian up for a long-range golazo from outside the area.
Ferreira then spearheaded a 62nd-minute counterattack that ended with teammate Thorleifur Ulfarsson converting the finish after a couple of nifty stepovers to make it 3-0.
It was the best showing to date for Ferreira in his first season with Houston, pushing him to 5g/3a in 934 minutes across 12 matches. The club-record signing and Designated Player joined in the offseason from Libertad in his native Paraguay.
With the win, Houston reached the seventh and final playoff spot in the Western Conference for the time being. The Dynamo return to action in MLS Week 14 when visiting Real Salt Lake on Saturday (9:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+).
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
