TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade

The Houston Dynamo have acquired winger Fafa Picault from FC Dallas in exchange for $275,000 in General Allocation Money, the clubs announced Thursday. Dallas could receive a further $50,000 GAM if certain performance-based incentives are hit.

Picault, 29, had three goals and two assists in 18 appearances (11 starts) with Dallas in 2020, his lone season with the club. He spent three seasons with the Philadelphia Union prior to 2020, with 24 goals and 14 assists over 107 career MLS appearances.

“Fafa is a dynamic and versatile winger who joins our club in the prime of his career,” Dynamo senior VP & GM Matt Jordan said in a club statement. “As we entered the offseason we wanted to focus on bringing more speed to the team, and Fafa will add this element to our roster right away.  We are very pleased to be adding a player of his quality and character to our group as we prepare for the 2021 season.”

The winger gives head coach Tab Ramos further options out wide, alongside Darwin Quintero, Mateo Bajamich, Ariel Lassiter and more.

On top of his goal contribution, Picault is regarded as one of the league's top pressing wingers. He was born in New York City and spent time during his childhood in Miami before moving to Europe to join the academy of Italian club Caligari. He also had stints with Germany's FC St. Pauli as well as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Tampa Bay Rowdies.
