The final round of Group Stage matches at the MLS is Back Tournament continues on Tuesday, with the rest of Group C to be decided, as well as the last chance for Atlanta United to book their place in the Knockout Stafe. Here's what to expect when the teams take the pitch.
Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution
9:00 am ET – ESPN, ESPN Deportes in US; TSN in Canada
There's plenty on the line for this matchup, as each of these teams could win the group outright with a victory.
Toronto will be looking to keep the good times rolling coming off their 4-3 Canadian Classique victory over the Montreal Impact that left them with four points from two matches after their 2-2 draw against D.C. United to open group play. It remains to be seen if Jozy Altidore suits up, but 20-year-old forward Ayo Akinola has become one of the stories of the tournament thus far, with five goals, including a hat trick against the Impact. New England are sitting on four points, but were disappointed not to be on a maximum six after their last match against DCU. A defensive mishap saw the Revs yield an equalizer to Federico Higuan after an Adam Buksa goal had them up in the second half. Bruce Arena's men can advance with a draw or a win in this one, but after failing to make their dominance count against DC they'll be looking to get their talented attack on track.
Atlanta United vs. Columbus Crew SC
8:00 pm ET – ESPN2, TUDN in US; TSN in Canada
It's now or never for Atlanta United, who have lost both their games in the tournament so far and have yet to score a goal. Josef Martinez or not, it hasn't been enough, and the Five Stripes need to come up with a win in this one to have a chance of avoiding heading home early. On the other side, Columbus have arguably been the best team in the tournament so far, led by Lucas Zelarayan, Gyasi Zardes and a lights-out defense. Caleb Porter's group are already through, so they might employ some squad rotation, but with regular-season points still on the line, expect the Crew to also be looking to further assert their early dominance.
Montreal Impact vs. D.C. United
10:30 pm ET – ESPN2, TUDN in US; TSN, TVAS in Canada
It's been a disappointing run so far for the Impact, who have yet to take a point after falling to the Revs and to Toronto. Like Atlanta, it's do-or-die time for Montreal, who would need three points and some help to have a chance. D.C. haven't looked like world-beaters but they've done enough to take two gutsy draws and would clinch its spot in the Knockout Stage with a win here against a wounded opponent. Ben Olsen's men should be trying to pounce early.
