It's the start of a new chapter in Alphonso Davies' professional career, as the Vancouver Whitecaps product trained with Bayern Munich for the first time on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old can't be registered by his new club until Jan. 1, so he'll be contained to only the training field before being eligible for selection in 2019.
Back in Vancouver, his former Whitecaps' coach Craig Dalrymple has compared the starlet to a number of the world's biggest players.
"Every boy wants to be Messi, but Messi is unique in his playing style," Dalrymple told Goal and Spox. "Alphonso may be half Messi, half Ronaldo. I would say that it resembles Kylian Mbappe, because of the power and the speed. Or earlier Thierry Henry. Let's see how it develops over the next few years."
With such high hopes, Bayern had to beat out a hoard of interested clubs. Dalrymple is happy they did, because he thinks Davies is in a perfect place with the Bavarian club.
"We knew relatively soon that Alphonso would attract interest," Dalrymple said. "To be honest, I am so glad that it has become FC Bayern. I am firmly convinced that FC Bayern is exactly the right club at the right time for Alphonso. The situation is just perfect for him."
