Future Austin FC Designated Player Cecilio Dominguez is scheduled to join the expansion side in 2021, but for now he's in his native Paraguay, and he put in an impressive shift in Copa Libertadores play, helping Club Guarani to a 4-1 victory over Argentine side Tigre in Group B on Thursday.
Dominguez came off the bench for the final half hour and struck for his club's second goal with the match tied 1-1, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and cashing home a penalty kick in the 67th minute.
He also bagged the helper on Guarani's next goal in the 83rd minute to extend Guarani's advantage to two goals on the way to the 4-1 result.
It was certainly an impressive performance from the soon-to-be Austin man, who was announced as the upcoming expansion side's first DP back in August from Argentine side Independiente.
Austin then loaned Dominguez to Guarani while they wait to kick off their first MLS campaign, with Thursday's PK marking his first goal for the club.
Dominguez's future Austin teammate, Rodney Redes, who was the expansion team's first-ever signing and is also on loan at Guarani, started and played 60 minutes in the match.
