Nicolas Lodeiro has gotten most of the press, but he’s been far from the only factor in Seattle’s remarkable turnaround.
Another key to the Sounders’ late-season success? Panamanian defender Román Torres.
Torres made his first start of 2016 on Sept. 12 at San Jose, nearly a year to the day after he suffered an ACL injury vs. the Earthquakes just four games after signing with the Sounders. Seattle have been lights out since he returned to the starting XI, posting a 4-0-1 record, registering two shutouts and allowing just four goals in five games to climb their way above the red line with a chance to clinch a playoff berth Wednesday against Houston (10:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE).
SoundersFC.com took an in-depth look at Torres’ recovery, his return, and his on- and off-field impact for a video published on their official website. Check it out above.
