If Brad Smith is returning to the Seattle Sounders, it won’t be anytime soon.
The left back, who joined the Sounders on loan from AFC Bournemouth during the 2018 summer transfer window and helped lead the club to the 2019 MLS Cup, has been loaned to Cardiff City in the English Championship for the remainder of the season.
Bournemouth announced the move Thursday morning for the 25-year-old Australian, who made 31 regular season appearances for the Sounders in the 18-month loan spell. He was recalled following the 2019 MLS season.
Unless he signs an extension, Smith reportedly will be out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could theoretically come back to Seattle if the club could work out his terms.
