FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele became the first MLS player to graduate from Southern New Hampshire University on Friday, earning an online degree as part of a partnership between MLS and the school.
Akindele finished his degree with a near-perfect GPA and is already enrolled in a master’s program in finance at SNHU. The school and FC Dallas teamed up to host a surprise party and diploma delivery on Friday for Akindele, with more than FCD staff, coaches, players, friends and family joining together at Toyota Stadium to celebrate Akindele’s graduation.
Through the partnership between MLS and SNHU, all MLS players and full-time staff have the opportunity to pursue an online degree with the school. More than 40 players and 50 staffers around the league are currently enrolled.
