FC Dallas have launched their Connect | Create | Unite platform, which contains a series of programs that are designed to help heal racial injustice across the Dallas/Fort Worth area and within the club.

“The FC Dallas family is united in our commitment to social justice. We stand together in our efforts to create positive change and do the work to promote racial equality,” club president Dan Hunt said in a release. “This program is designed to connect people, create opportunity and unite our community.”

The program began June 18 when several players and head coach Luchi Gonzalez joined Joli Robinson of the Dallas Police Department for an event dubbed Candid Conversations: Sports’ Role in Healing Racial Injustice

“I think it’s great what the club is doing and it’s a start for the bigger initiatives to come,” defender Reggie Cannon said. “People of color have been systematically at a disadvantage for so long and I’m happy to do my part to try to change it.”

Here’s a rundown of key programs:

  • Homegrown Partner Program – This lead initiative provides five Black and minority-owned businesses with FC Dallas and North Texas SC sponsorship packages valued at $500,000.
  • FCD Diversity Dinners - These events will feature thought leaders who lead a discussion via questions and conversations.
  • FCD Candid Conversations - Livestreams with players, coaches, staff and law enforcement officials that promote tough conversations about diversity.

FC Dallas have also launched a Diversity Committee for their staff and players, and are planning to continue education about diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
