TRANSFER TRACKER:Waived
Nearly seven months after being selected by FC Cincinnati in the Expansion Draft, the club announced Tuesday that they have waived veteran midfielder Eric Alexander.
Alexander, 31, has appeared in six matches (four starts) for the Orange-and-Blue, though hasn’t logged minutes since a June 29 loss at Minnesota United.
In all, Alexander has made 218 regular-season and 14 playoff appearances during a 10-year MLS career. He’s scored 10 goals and handed out 26 assists across that span, featuring for the following clubs: FC Dallas, Portland Timbers, New York Red Bulls, Montreal Impact, Houston Dynamo and now Cincy.
The move comes shortly after the league’s newest team recently hired Ron Jans as their head coach. That creates a growing Dutch presence in Ohio, with Gerard Nijkamp the club’s general manager.
FC Cincy returns to action Saturday (7:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info) for a rivalry match against the Columbus Crew SC.
