TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Transfer
FC Cincinnati have transferred midfielder Leonardo Bertone to FC Thun of the Swiss Super League, the club announced Monday.
Bertone, 25, joined Cincinnati ahead of their inaugural season, making 25 appearances. He scored the club's first MLS goal, a memorable strike from distance in the club's inaugural match. He added two assists as well.
“We want to thank Leonardo for all he did for this club on the pitch and in the community as an FC Cincinnati player,” GM Gerard Nijkamp said in a statement. “We felt this move was beneficial for both sides. We wish Leonardo all the best in the next chapter of his career.
After a disappointing inaugural campaign, Cincinnati are aiming for improvements in 2020. Nijkamp, who was appointed during the season in 2019, has began to put his stamp on the roster. This offseason has seen the club add Designated Player Yuya Kubo, Haris Medunjanin, Tom Pettersson and Zico Bailey.
The club now have 28 players under contract.
