FC Cincinnati cleared up their logjam at goalkeeper for 2019, as the expansion side announced Thursday evening that they had loaned rookie goalkeeper Ben Lundt to USL Championship side Louisville City FC.
Lundt, the No. 37 overall selection by FCC in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, was signed by the expansion team on Wednesday along with four other draft selections. The 23-year-old former Akron Zip is a native of Germany, and would have taken up an international roster spot for Cincy.
The move leaves Cincinnati with three goalkeepers, with Polish international Przemyslaw Tyton the apparent front-runner for the starting spot. FCC begin their inaugural season on March 2 at the Seattle Sounders and play their first home game on March 17 against Portland.
