TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
FC Cincinnati have acquired the Homegrown rights to Zico Bailey from the LA Galaxy and signed him to a Homegrown contract, the club announced Thursday. Cincy sent a fourth-round 2020 MLS SuperDraft pick to the Galaxy and may also send $50,000 in General Allocation Money if incentives are hit.
Bailey, 19, is an attacking right back who joined the Galaxy academy in 2013. He made five appearances for LA Galaxy II in 2018 and began his collegiate career at Cal State Fullerton, but left after his freshman season to sign in Sweden.
“We look forward to adding Zico in the preseason to see where he is in his development,” Cincy GM Gerard Nijkamp said in a club statement. “As a young talent, we believe he will benefit from the opportunity to continue developing alongside our senior roster players.”
FC Cincinnati are now up to 27 players on their 2020 roster. This offseason they've added Haris Medunjanin and Brandon Vazquez this winter as they head towards their sophomore campaign in MLS.
During his time in the Galaxy academy, Bailey was teammates with the likes of Efrain Alvarez and Alex Mendez.
