Fantasy: Week 6 positional rankings

Reid, Mike, and Blayne are joined by Ashley Savage from MLSFemale.com to preview all of the upcoming action in Week 6 of the MLS season. They start out with a new format for reviewing Round 5 and touch on their most important takeaways and fantasy surprise moments. They pause for some housekeeping to cover the Friday start date and Bye teams before moving straight into the Round 6 player picks.

Goalkeepers

Stefan Frei leads the league with 18 saves and he’s coming off his second clean sheet in four games to start the season. Up next, he faces a Real Salt Lake attack that has just two goals in three road games, putting him in a favorable spot for another shutout on Saturday at CenturyLink Field.

Defenders

Nick DeLeon continues to operate as a midfielder in Toronto FC’s setup, giving us the best of both worlds if he can pick up attacking and defensive points. DeLeon has taken a combined eight shots over his last three games, and the addition of Alejandro Pozuelo only helps his fantasy upside.

Midfielders

Alejandro Pozuelo delivered a statement in his MLS debut, registering 20 points by way of two goals and an assist. It’s a one-game sample size, but he was involved in every facet of the Toronto FC attack and this could be the cheapest we’ll get Pozuelo for the rest of the Spring season.

Forwards

Raul Ruidiaz failed to score for the first time in nine games dating back to 2018 despite firing off a game-high five shots at Vancouver in Week 5. The Peruvian hitman has scored in five straight home games and he’s high on the fantasy radar against a Salt Lake defense that has conceded the second-most goals in MLS to start 2019.
