After that, Reid covers many of the important points to keep in mind while picking one of your final teams for the Spring Fantasy season and reminds every one of which teams are participating in midweek domestic cup games. They conclude the show with a breakdown of which DGW players are worth grabbing this week and which SGW games offer the most fantasy point potential.
It’s been a long road, but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The 2018 Spring MLS Fantasy season comes to an end on July 29 and that means you only have two more shots at points before everything resets! I don’t expect scores to be too high in Round 21, as our two double-game week teams have not been the most productive this season.
Still, I think you could justify having four to six of them on your team, but balance is going to be key. Below is a list of some of the players who I think can help you find that balance.
Teams on a bye: New York City FC, Sporting Kansas City, San Jose Earthquakes
Double-game week: Minnesota United, New England Revolution
Goalkeepers
DGW Pick: Both double-game week ‘keepers have been putting up average numbers this season, but two shots at points still makes them better than all the single-game week options. New England’s disciplinary losses and Minnesota’s (8 pm ET | TV & streaming info) two home games make Bobby Shuttleworth ($6.3) my preferred option. Since he plays the first and last game, you’ll have to decide early if you want to swap him for a SGW player.
Keeperoo Option: If you do decide that a switch is needed, then the New York Red Bulls’ Luis Robles ($8.7) is an excellent option. He has only lost one home game this season, has five clean sheets and has only allowed three goals over his last five games. He’ll be a tough ‘keeper to break even for a New England (7 pm ET | TV & streaming info) team that has enjoyed scoring success on the road.
Defenders

On a Roll: The DGW players may be tempting, but I don’t recommend going too deep on defense. So where should you start to fill out your backline? My first suggestion is Portland’sLarrys Mabiala ($10.6).
The Timbers’ unbeaten run has been great for his point production and some recent offensive success has made Mabiala Portland’s top defender. Without the goals, expect his floor to be three to five points, and a clean sheet against Montreal (11 pm ET | TVAS — Full TV & streaming info) could equal a double-digit return.
Playing the Odds: The next stop in my search for SGW defenders is Real Salt Lake’sJusten Glad ($8.0). Ranting aside, RSL have been excellent at home and earned two clean sheets over their last four home games. The chances for another are strong in Round 21 as they face a Colorado (10 pm ET | TV & streaming info) team that has only scored four road goals all season.
Midfielders
DGW Pick: There are many excellent midfield options for Round 21, but this is the position I believe is best for a New England DGW player, and that player is Diego Fagundez ($11.5). He’s scored a goal or earned an assist in four of his last five games and is one of the key Revolution players who is not serving a suspension. I’d expect him to play the bulk of both games against Minnesota and the Red Bulls.
Mr. Consistency: The season continues to be a mixed bag for Seattle, but Nicolas Lodeiro ($12.3) always seems to come through for fantasy managers. His point production has only been less than six points twice this season and he’s been in good form over his last four games. This week’s Cascadia Cup match will give him a good shot at getting on the score sheet again as Vancouver (4 pm ET | TSN1 — Full TV & streaming info) may have some tired legs since they also have a Canadian Championship game on Wednesday.
Forwards

Captain Watch: Forwards have been a risky captain option all season long, but Minnesota’s DGW should make Darwin Quintero ($9.2) a top option. Four goals and two assists over his last three games may seem like unsustainable numbers, and I’d agree. But with his current form and Minnesota’s tendency to avoid being shut out, Quintero is likely to see the scoreboard again in Round 21.
Differential: If you want to get creative with your forward options, consider adding Columbus’Gyasi Zardes ($7.8). He’s had a great year since moving to Crew SC and has scored almost as many goals as the rest of his team combined. Orlando City, on the other hand, have struggled on the road and I’m not sure a new coach will be enough to keep Crew SC at bay; Zardes could rack up fantasy points as a result (Saturday, 7:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info).
