Exports: Tim Ream starts for Fulham, Sebastian Soto scores a brace for SC Telstar

Sebastian Soto - US U-20s

A few US exports were back on the pitch on Monday in the English Premier League, 2. Bundesliga and Eredivisie action.

Here's a quick round-up of who played and how it went.

Tim Ream (Fulham)

It was a tough day for Ream's Fulham side, which is trying to retain its top flight status after earning promotion last season. The 32-year-old US international started and played all 90 minutes as Fulham were easily brushed aside 3-0 by Aston Villa.

Fellow U.S. international Antonee Robinson is still awaiting his first-team EPL debut for Fulham, but he was on the bench for this contest. The 23-year-old joined the club ahead of the 2020 season after his previous club, Wigan Athletic, was relegated from the English Championship.

Fulham's rough start in its first season back in the EPL has been well documented, and co-owner Tony Khan even took to Twitter after the match to apologize to supporters and ensure changes were coming.

Unclear what that message might mean for Ream, who played as the left center back in a three-back system against Aston Villa.

Bobby Wood (Hamburger SV)

The U.S. striker wasn't in the starting XI for his side's 2. Bundesliga bout with Paderborn on Monday, but he was available off the bench.

Wood hasn't received a US men's national team call-up since 2018, but he has 13 goals in his 44 career appearances for the Yanks, and will look to work himself back in the fold as his season progresses in Germany.

Sebastian Soto (SC Telstar)

It was a big day for the 20-year-old forward and former Real Salt Lake academy forward, who opened up his account in his club's Keuken Kampioen Divisie (Dutch second division) matchup against Den Bosch. Soto (pictured above) got his team on the board in the 13th minute, finishing off a breakaway chance.

He then struck again just before half-hour mark on a rebound finish to extend the lead to 2-0 before coming off at halftime.

That's quite the start for Soto, who is on loan from English side Norwich City and will look to parlay this outburst into some consistent playing time as he tries to make his name at the club level. He's thrived on the U.S. youth international circuit, scoring 11 goals in 15 combined appearances for the U.S. Under-19s and Under-20s.
