A trio of US-eligible exports and an MLS product in the Premier League were in action overseas on Friday, and all three saw substantial minutes as their clubs bagged multi-goal victories. Here's a round-up of who was in action and how they did.
Sebastian Soto
SC Telstar
The biggest standout effort of the day came from the 20-year-old forward, who is currently weighing which team he wants to represent at the international level between the United States and Chile.
Soto provided all the scoring for SC Telstar in their Friday match with Helmond Sport, striking in the 49th and 63rd minutes to pace his team to a 2-0 victory. Soto is lighting it up to start his career in the Dutch second division, as the brace gives him five goals in his first six games. The finish on this first one is all class.
US men's national team head coach Gregg Berhalter was clear that he's hoping to keep Soto with the program, and that's a good example as to why.
Emmanuel Sabbi
Odense Boldklub
The 22-year-old attacker has featured for the US U-18s and U-20s and scored a pair of goals in his first five matches for Danish Superliga side Odense Boldklub leading up to their Friday matchup with Lyngby.
Sabbi didn't find the scoresheet in Friday's match, but did start and play 68 minutes before subbing off in a 3-0 victory. Sabbi is in his first season with OB after spending 2017-2020 in the Danish second division with Hobro IK, scoring 13 goals in 69 appearances. He played his youth soccer with the Ohio Premier Soccer Club and had originally committed to the University of Akron before signing with the reserve side of Spanish side UD Las Palmas, and will look to continue making his mark now that he's in the Danish top flight.
Matt Miazga
Anderlecht
The former New York Red Bulls standout resumed his starting spot in central defense for Anderlecht, where he's currently on loan from Chelsea, going the full 90 in a 3-1 win over K.V. Kortrijk in the Belgian Pro League.
Miazga is learning under one of the greatest in Anderlecht manager and Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany, who has spoken highly of the 25-year-old thus far and it seems as though he'll get plenty of starts and minutes. Still just 25, Miazga remains a highly-rated member of the USMNT's pool of defenders, and he'll look to keep proving that case.
Jack Harrison
Leeds United
Leeds continued their fairytale return to the Premier League on Friday evening, and former NYCFC winger Jack Harrison was right in the thick of things once again. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft started and went the full 90 as Marcelo Bielsa's men thumped fellow surprised package Aston Villa 3-0, handing second-place Villa their first loss of the season and themselves moving up to third in the table. Harrison didn't find the score sheet this time around, but turned in another strong performance.
Harrison is in his third season on loan at Leeds from Manchester City and has handled the step up from Championship football with ease. He has now appeared in five of Leeds' six league games, starting all of them while registering a goal and an assist.
