An adjustment to a new country and league is seldom easy, a fact Inbeom Hwang has learned early into his 2019 campaign with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
But the South Korean midfielder is slowly starting to feel more at home, as he tells ESPN’s Noah Davis in a feature published on Tuesday. The Young Designated Player, 22, has big goals with the national team and for his club career, but also comes with wisdom beyond his years.
“Of course, there is a limit to how good I can be, but right now I don't want to think about that limit," Hwang said. "You never know. This right now could be my golden period. Maybe I don't go anywhere from here. On the other hand, this could be the very beginning part of my career. Hopefully, there is a long way to go from here."
Davis writes about Hwang becoming an icon in Vancouver’s Korean community, how he watches Netflix shows to help learn English and is growing to love the MLS lifestyle. It sure helps that Hwang also got a puppy, a Pomeranian named Couver, with his older brother.
