Chivas USA made a splash Monday with the signing of veteran defender Carlos Bocanegra and have welcomed yet another important player this week, though not necessarily a new one.
Midfielder Eric Avila, who had been on trial with parent club CD Guadalajara for over two weeks, returned from Mexico to rejoin Chivas USA, a club spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday.
Avila was back training with the Rojiblancos on Field 6 at the StubHub Center as they prepared for the upcoming three-game road trip to Dallas, Montreal and Philadelphia. He returned to his native Southern California on Monday and is expected to remain with Chivas USA for the remainder of the season, the club spokesperson added.

Avila left with Guadalajara on June 16 following an inter-organizational scrimmage in Carson, Calif., as the Mexican side readied themselves for the upcoming Liga MX Torneo Apertura. Though the trial didn't work out at this time, the two sides have not ruled out another attempt to send Avila to Guadalajara on loan next summer, the spokesperson said.
Avila told MLSsoccer.com last month he was excited to have an opportunity to play in Mexico, his parents' place of birth.
The attacking midfielder has a goal and two assists this season for the Goats, who have not won an MLS match since March 30. Avila was acquired from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for Nick LaBrocca in January.
