The last-gasp golazo that sank the reigning MLS Cup champions has also charmed AT&T Goal of the Week voters.
Jefferson Savarino’s injury-time winner for Real Salt Lake, the final kick of a stunning 2-1 win over visiting Atlanta United, has taken the top prize in Week 13, garnering 36% of ballots cast.
It was a balanced race, however.
Another dramatic strike, Nicolas Mezquida’s game-winner for the Colorado Rapids over Columbus Crew SC, earned 24%, while Jonathan dos Santos of the LA Galaxy took 19% for his long-range winner at Orlando City.
Vancouver Whitecaps fullback Ali Adnan claimed 17% for his fine solo effort and hat-trick hero Johnny Russell of Sporting KC rounded out the field at 4%.
