Darwin Quintero misses first match of 2019; Red Bulls start two youngsters

Darwin Quintero – Minnesota United – Goal celebration

If Minnesota United FC are going to rebound from back-to-back losses, they will have to do so without the services of their star player.

Darwin Quintero will miss Saturday's night match against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena after the Colombian suffered a groin injury earlier this week. The former Club America forward had three goals and three assists in the first four matches of 2019.

On the other side, after their own pair of losses, the Red Bulls have turned to two teenagers in their starting XI. Mathias Jorgensen will get his first start for the Red Bulls, while Cristian Casseres Jr. will get his second start this season. Casseres Jr.'s previous start came in Week 1 when RBNY played a heavily-rotated squad against Columbus Crew SC due to the Concacaf Champions League.

Casseres Jr. takes the place of Marc Rzatkowski in central midfield while Jorgensen is in for Daniel Royer. Jorgensen's insertion could mean a formation shift for Chris Armas, with two strikers in the XI.
