Following a thorough victory over Canada Friday night in Orlando, the US men's national team close out Nations League A Group A play against winless Cuba in the Cayman Islands Tuesday night, in the driver's seat to advance to the tournament's semifinals.
The USMNT are three points behind group-leading Canada, which have played all of its matches. A win by any margin will see the US through thanks to a +2 goal differential against Canada after a 4-1 win at Exploria Stadium. Jordan Morris, Gyasi Zardes and Aaron Long struck in the opening 34 minutes and, after Steven Vitoria pulled Canada back a goal in the 72nd minutes, Zardes closed out the scoring with his second goal one minute before full time.
The winner of the three-team group advances to the Nations League semifinals and the top two finishers clinch berths in the 2021 Gold Cup. The USMNT won the first encounter in Group A play, defeating Cuba, 7-0, at Audi Field on Oct. 11.
