When not with the US national team, Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper Zack Steffen has been his club's mainstay, but an injury will sideline the player for their upcoming game.
Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter on Thursday told the Columbus Dispatch's Andrew Erickson that Steffen suffered a knee injury in training and will not make the trip to face LAFC in Los Angeles on Saturday (10:30 pm ET | Full TV & Streaming Info).
Berhalter added that Steffen will undergo an MRI, and that the immediate prognosis is currently unknown.
In Steffen's place, Jon Kempin is expected to start against LAFC. Kempin has made three appearances for Columbus this season, going undefeated (1-0-2) in those three games.
