Columbus Crew SC on Thursday announced the signing of forward Miguel Berry, the seventh overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, after he participated in the team's preseason camp.
“We want to congratulate Miguel on officially joining Crew SC,” said Crew SC president and GM Tim Bezbatchenko in a statement. “Miguel’s hard work in preseason camp did not go unnoticed and we are excited to have him join our Club. We look forward to working with Miguel as he continues his development as a player.”
Berry made 72 appearances (69 starts) for the University of San Diego while registering 38 goals and 16 assists in four collegiate seasons. He scored 17 goals in 18 starts during his senior campaign, which earned him West Coast Conference co-player of the year honors.
He joins Gyasi Zardes, Fanendo Adi and Jordan Hamilton as forwards on coach Caleb Porter's Columbus roster. The Crew open their 2020 season Sunday at home against New York City FC (12:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in the US and on DAZN in Canada)
