TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The Colorado Rapids have signed midfielder Oliver Larraz to a homegrown contract, the club announced Wednesday. He is the club's ninth academy product signed to the first team since 2017.
Larraz, 19, joined the club's academy in 2014 and was named the Rapids' Academy Player of the Year in 2015. He has been involved with the club's first team training and has also spent time at other academies, including Barcelona's residency academy in Arizona as well as the U-19 side for German club Duisburg.
“We’re delighted to extend a Homegrown Player contract to a promising young talent like Ollie,” Rapids EVP & GM Pádraig Smith said in a club statement. “Ollie has worked hard to progress as player during his time in the academy and he has earned this opportunity with his consistent performances while training with our First Team throughout 2020. We look forward to seeing him continue to develop and contribute to our club.”
Larraz is the latest academy talent to join the first team, with the likes of Cole Bassett and Sam Vines key players in the first team.
